Tet, short for Tet Nguyen Dan, is the Vietnamese Lunar New Year and the most important holiday in Vietnam. It marks the beginning of the lunar calendar year and is a time for family reunions, traditional ceremonies, and nationwide celebrations. Tet usually falls between late January and mid February, depending on the lunar calendar, and lasts for several days, often extending into a full week or longer. In 2026, the Tet holiday runs from February 14 to February 22.

During the Tet holiday, most government offices, businesses, and public institutions in Vietnam either close completely or operate with very limited staff. This includes the Vietnam Immigration Department, which is responsible for reviewing and approving Vietnam e-visa applications.
If your Vietnam e-visa application is still showing “Processing” during the Tet holiday, you may be concerned about missing your flight. This situation is common every year, as the Vietnam Immigration Department operates with limited capacity during the Tet period. However, even during Tet, it is still possible to expedite a pending e-visa application through proper channels.
Understand why expediting is necessary during Tet holiday
During Tet, standard e-visa processing is usually paused, even though the official government website remains online and continues to accept applications. As a result, applications submitted shortly before or during the holiday often remain in “processing” status until offices reopen after the holiday. If your departure date is approaching, waiting for normal processing is usually not an option.
Moreover, if your Vietnam e-visa status changes to “Amendment required” shortly before the Tet holiday, it can significantly affect your travel plans. This situation is more critical than a normal “processing” delay and requires immediate attention.
If you receive an approved Vietnam e-visa right before the Tet holiday, it may seem like good news until you notice that the visa contains errors. This is a serious situation, especially during Tet, when normal immigration processing is limited or paused. An e-visa with incorrect information, such as your name, passport number, date of birth, nationality, or visa validity dates, is considered invalid for travel. Airlines and immigration officers will not overlook these mistakes, even if they appear minor.
Use an expedited e-visa service
The most effective way to resolve a pending e-visa, fix the “Amendment required” or correct the errors in the issued e-visa during Tet is to request an expedited or emergency Vietnam e-visa service. This process allows your existing application to be manually prioritised and reviewed through official immigration procedures, even during public holidays.
To expedite your pending e-visa, we need your existing application code, along with accurate personal information and compliant passport and portrait photos. Once the expedited request is submitted, it is processed as a priority, and approval can often be issued within a few hours or up to 24 hours, depending on the option selected.
Under normal circumstances, visa errors can be corrected through amendments or by applying for a new e-visa. However, during the Tet holiday, the Vietnam Immigration Department typically does not process standard amendments or new applications. This means that if your visa is granted with errors right before Tet, waiting for normal correction procedures is unlikely to work, and your application may remain unresolved throughout the holiday period.
Ensure your application is error free
Before requesting expedited processing, double-check that all information in your application matches your passport exactly. Any errors in name spelling, passport number, photo quality, or travel details can delay approval, even when expediting is requested.
If errors are found in a pending e-visa application, you are advised to apply for a new visa and expedite the new e-visa application process, even during the Tet holiday.
Fix the granted e-visa errors
As soon as you discover an error on your issued e-visa, you should stop planning to travel with that visa and take action immediately. Do not assume the error will be corrected automatically or ignored at check-in.
If time allows and Tet has not yet started, you may attempt to contact the Vietnam Immigration Department through official channels. However, response times are often slow, especially close to public holidays.
If your departure date falls during or shortly after Tet, the most effective solution is to request an expedited or emergency visa correction service. This allows your case to be manually reviewed and corrected through official immigration procedures, even during the holiday period, depending on eligibility.
Receive and use your approved e-visa
Once approved or amended, your expedited e-visa will be issued directly on the official Vietnam government visa portal, just like a standard e-visa. You can download it immediately, print a copy if possible, and present it at airline check-in and immigration upon arrival in Vietnam.

Airlines strictly enforce Vietnam’s entry requirements, especially during peak travel periods like Tet. A pending e-visa or an e-visa with mistakes is not sufficient to board a flight. If your e-visa is still “processing”, or it shows “Amendment required” or contains errors and your departure is near, requesting expedited processing as early as possible is critical.
