Tet holiday or Vietnamese Lunar New Year is the most significant festival in Vietnam. In 2024, Tet starts from February 8th until February 14th, 2022 (7 days) and it’s good time for foreign tourists to spend their vacation in Vietnam enjoying the longest festival.
During this time, all the Vietnam organizations stops working, including the Vietnam Immigration Department (except the Immigration Office at the international airports in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Danang, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc to issue the visa for the foreigners arriving Vietnam on Tet holiday). If you plan to travel Vietnam on Tet, please read the instruction below carefully that helps you avoid the trouble with Vietnam visa:
- Apply visa before February 1st, 2024:
Since the Vietnam Immigration Department is closed on February 8th, 2024, you should complete your visa application no later than February 7th, 2024. If you can not complete it before the due date, you may encounter the additional service fee and it’s very expensive on holiday. - Choose the most appropriate visa type:
If you don’t have much time to complete your visa application, you should not try with e-visa or visa application at the Vietnam Embassy as these ways will takes time and you may miss your trip at last minutes if you don’t have your visa delivered on time. - Check the visa information carefully:
You can not get on the plane, and of course, can not enter the country if there is a small mistake on your visa (including spelling mistake, typos, incorrect passport numbers, wrong date of birth, middle name missing…). Thus you have to check the information on your visa (or visa approval letter) against your passport carefully to make sure everything is correct. - Order the visa fast track service:
Actually, there will be many customers arriving in Vietnam during Tet holiday, including the foreigners and the Vietnamese living in foreign country return to homeland for traditional Tet holiday. That will make the visa counter being overload and you may have to spend long time to obtain a visa onto passport. How to apply for Vietnam visa during Tet holiday 2024?
You should complete your visa application no later than February 1, 2024 however, if you could not do it early you may need an urgent visa service. See below instruction how to apply for urgent Vietnam visa during Tet holiday:
Step 1: Check your flight time and Vietnam time to ensure that you have enough time to arrange your visa. Normally, it will take 4 – 6 hours to complete your visa and the Vietnam Immigration Department will issue the visa approval letter from 8:00 AM to 17:00 Vietnam time (GMT+7).
For example, if your flight departs at 3:00 AM Vietnam time and you need a visa approval letter in 2 hours, it is not possible! You should change your flight to the next days that we would have more time to arrange your visa.
Step 2: You go online at http://www.visumvietnamonline.com/apply-online/ to complete the visa application form and make payment
Step 3: After 4 – 6 hours you will receive a visa approval letter via email
Step 4: You print out the letter of approval, bring along with your passport, photo, stamping fee and get on the plane. Upon on arrival, you will present all these things at the visa counter to get visa stamped onto passport in couple minutes.
